ShareThis uses the Alexa thumbnail service to generate thumbnails to be sent with the publisher’s shared content. Alexa must scrape the publisher’s site in order to generate a thumbnail. In order to request an update to your thumbnail navigate to this address and fill out the form:
http://www.alexa.com/site/thumbnails/update_thumbnail
This will load your site into a queue for the scraping process. Alexa will even give you an estimate for when your new thumbnail will be ready.

Free tracking is available for the new ShareThis WordPress plugin and the ShareThis button, however it is not available for the classic Share This WordPress plugin. In order to enable tracking for your plugin or button, you need to register for a ShareThis account on the button configuration page when you configure your plugin or button. Registering for the new account will be your first step when getting the ShareThis button, but if you’re installing the WordPress plugin, you can do it as part of the plugin configuration after installation.
Very soon, you will be able to access tracking reports by logging in with your account at ShareThis.com.
Please be aware that you can’t currently link your button or plugin to an existing ShareThis account, so you must create a new account from the configuration page when you configure your button or plugin.

By putting the ShareThis button on your pages, you’re enabling your viewers to pass along your fabulous content to their friends via Email, AIM, MySpace, and Facebook, as well as post it to a large number of social web sites. Effectively, you’re allowing your army of users to spread your content all over the web. If you normally market to your viewers, then you’ll be happy to know they’ll now be marketing for you. If you don’t, you’re viewers will be spreading your reputation regardless. Of course, the more links to your site that appear on the web, the higher your search engine rankings may be.
By using the ShareThis button, you can reclaim screen real-estate, since you will be able to remove all those social web buttons from your pages and replace them with one button.

Once you’ve installed the button script in the header on your site, you’ll have to modify that script to make changes to the button on your site. The easiest way to do that is to generate a new button that has the options you want on our button configuration page.
If you’ve signed up for tracking, you’ll need to login at the button configuration page before you generate a new button so that your button will continue to be tracked under the same account.Once you’ve generated a new button script in the configuration tool, just replace the script on your site with it.
These steps will also work if you are using our new ShareThis WordPress plugin. Just replace your current button code in the Options > ShareThis admin menu in WordPress.
If you’re using our classic Share This WordPress plugin, see the README.txt bundled with the plugin to find out what kind of modifications can be made and how to make them.
